Mother's Day Chalkboard

With Mother's Day right around the corner I
found myself looking for a good quote for my chalkboard.

I came across this Mother's day quote.

I changed it a little to fit my chalkboard.

I love it.

But not as much as I love my mother!

Happy Mother's Day to everyone that has:

Slept on the floor next to a crib
Who's been puked, peed and spit-up on
Eaten the crusts on a PB&J sandwich for her lunch
Played  hours of pretend
Became a free hire taxi driver
Found everything that was "lost"in the house
Brought oranges for the whole soccer team
Embarrassed their child in public
Who actually listened to their child do home reading
Held a sick child through the whole night
Dropped everything at anytime
Replaced the toilet paper roll
Kissed all boo boos better
Packed a kajillion lunches and snacks
Put up with a public tantrum
Been a cheerleader.
and
Loved unconditionally.

Thanks MOM.

4 Easy Steps to Art

It's spring break here and I'm trying to keep the kids busy.

So far we've....

We've gone to a movie
(Mr. Peabody and Sherman)

Iced sugar cookies

Played with our friends

and made some cool looking art with our cousins.

I found this artist on
pinterest and thought it
would make a fun project for the older kids.

It's so easy and I think the final results are terrific.

1.First we cut out shapes from cereal boxes and covered them in magazine pages.
2. Then we covered out canvases with paint
3. Then we glued around the edges of the cardboard shapes with seed beads (which then were painted gold) or "dot art" with gold paint.
4. Then we arranged them and glued them down.

Voila

This is a close up of the seed bead technique.

and this is a close up of the "dot art" technique.

Super fun and super easy.

I think I might have to try my hand at it.

Donkey Kong Party

Ah, another birthday party has come and gone.

This one was very busy, but I had lots of help from my older girls and their friends and I think it turned out wonderfully.

First we made tiki masks with clay and cereal boxes.

I think they turned out cute.

Some of the kids really got into the acting of the crazy tiki's.

Some of them just make me laugh.

Then there were the games.  This one was animal hockey.

These belonged to the tiki knockdown where kids got to shoot a nerf gun and hit them.

The kids had to focus and try and find the gold (chocolate) coin under the cup

This was toss the banana into the barrel.

At each station they earned tickets that they got to redeem at the prize table.

This is the cake.

GO DONKEY KONG!!!

And this is the birthday boy and his donkey kong pose.
(I saved you from a billion more of this pose and opted for only one)

Happy Birthday!
